Exclusive Interview with Underrated Maryland Producer ‘BossManJL’

BossManJL is a Hip-Hop producer ready for the spotlight, producing beats for a number of local underrated artists and most importantly, putting Maryland on the map. He has achieved an astonishing 100,000 streams so far with the artists he’s produced for and we can clearly see, he’s on his way to the top! Here is the interview.

Who do you take inspiration from when producing?

- I take inspiration from famous producers like Hitmaka, TnTXD, and Wheezy. These producers inspire me because they are all musical geniuses and they each have their own unique sound, from their melodies to the drums they use, etc. Hopefully, I’ll be as talented as they are someday.

What genres do you produce?

- I produce hip-hop/rap music. I like to mess around with R&B sometimes but I feel like my strength is within hip-hop type beats. I’m currently working on making sure my R&B beats are just as strong as my hip-hop ones, but I can definitely produce both kinds of music and I have placements with both genres.

Who have you produced for?

- I produced for Q Da Fool, he’s one of the most talented artists from my area. He was also signed by Roc Nation. I’ve also had the chance to work with professional athletes like Le’Veon Bell. I also worked with some upcoming and notable artists from my area.

What’s next for the future?

- For the future, I plan on working with as many artists and producers as possible. A goal of mine since I started producing is being able to say I produced a song for notable artists like Lil Baby, Gunna, Rod Wave, etc. I’ve had the opportunity to work with a couple of billboard producers so I feel it’s a step in the right direction. I also would like to release another producer tape in the future as well but the main focus is trying to work with as many folks as I can.
