Upcoming Chicago Artist, Sław, Releases Hit Single "Is This Really Love"

Is this really love? Slaw has returned once more with another single titled with the preceding question, “Is this really love?”.

The lyrics of this song expertly create emotion and present that very sensation for you to feel it. The lyrics follow the emotions of doubt, of confusion or uncertainty about your relationship. “Is it real?”, “Is this worth it?” are the sort of questions we ask ourselves when we listen to this song. The artist expresses things like “I wanted you in my life”, “I wish you stayed” and “I'm trapped inside my living hell”. These three quotations themselves expertly capture the pain and suffering one can feel in a hard relationship.

The music behind the lyrics is equally important and effective. A slow-paced beat goes well with a song of this tone with these lyrics, yet that is not the case here. Instead, Slaw did something so subtle yet genius. One could say the music is “medium” paced, it is neither fast nor slow. Why is this important you may ask? The tempo of the beat contrasting with the slow lyrics forms the same dynamic of panic and emptiness you feel after losing something important. This works well with the gradually rising higher notes towards the end of the song creating a similar tension. I doubt there are many other songs that create this effect so vividly.

As always, the album cover every now and again is worth visiting. The darkness of the album cover indicates a sort of gloominess or emptiness. The red of the rose, especially the darkness of it is interesting as it reflects the strained and dark love described to us in the song. It really sets the tone for the song.

At the end of the day, “Is This Really Love” through its expertly crafted lyrics, beautifully timed music and detailed album cover leads to a magnificent song you don't want to stop listening to! So why not get lost in the experience yourself…?
